I never realized how many plastic sandwich and snack bags I use in my home until I heard about ReUsies. I knew it was an added expense on our grocery bill every couple of months but I never really thought about it. Now I do!
When ReUsies sent me a couple of reusable bags to try, I was skeptical. First of all, I have a toddler who loves to dump things out - I could see it now - cheerios added to the already collected cheerios on my van floor. Yes, we vacuumed them out but it doesn't mean that they won't land there again. I have this horrible habit of letting her eat in the car.
ReUsies come in snack size bags and sandwich size bags. I found them to be a little bigger than your normal plastic bags which I thought was great. What I was concerned about was the lack of the zipper top - these have Velcro. They were great though - they held the food in and kept things neat and tidy. Did cheerios still land on my floor? Yes, they did but no more than normal. My hope is to ban all food in my van - I know my husband would be thrilled!
I did also use these great little bags in an unconventional way also. I used the large ReUsies to hold my newborn's diapers and the small snack size ReUsies to hold my phone, iPod, and a few other things. I wanted them for extra pockets in my diaper bag. They worked perfect and when my daughter's sippy cup spilled orange juice in the diaper bag - the ReUsies kept everything dry. They have this great nylon material on the inside that is great for cleaning easily. What the makers of ReUsies didn't know was that it would also protect my personal items from being soaked!
The sandwich size bags are $8.75 and the snack size bags are $6.75. If you used these everyday in place of sandwich bags and snack bags in your child's lunchbox, you could easily recover the cost of the two bags. They have some really cute covers too!
The only downfall to the ReUsies is that if you had a lot of children or family members to buy these for, your cost could be a little high at first but you would definitely get that money back. This is definitely the frugal way to go when it comes to plastic baggies! If you order now, you can get free shipping on any order you make! Just type SCHOOL when you checkout.
I would love to see ReUsies make these into a shape that would be great for a package of wipes and a few diapers for moms like me that like to keep things organized and neat in the diaper bag. Trust me - scary things can be found in diaper bags!
ReUsies know that you will like these as much as I do so they are giving away one set of ReUsies (1 Sandwich size bag and 1 Snack size bag) to one of my readers.
