Birthday Giveaway #4 - The Princess and Three Knights By Karen Kingsbury {Ends 10/20}

When I purchase book for my daughter, I am constantly on the lookout for book with character and good moral teachings.  I want my daughter to grow up to love the Lord, have great character, and to love her husband and children one day.  I know that Gracie isn't even two yet but I believe good character is taught early.  If you try to teach it later in life,  your child may have already acquired bad habits that you have to overcome.

One of my favorite books right now is The Princess and Three Knights by Karen Kingsbury.  This book was just released by Zondervankids and I can not thank them and Karen Kingsbury enough for this book.  This book is geared for children 4 - 7 but I believe any age child can benefit from this story.
This story encourages children to not only develop good character but that good character is what makes you beautiful.  I also love that this story unlike other princess stories shows that a knight worthy of a princess's hand is not one who is mighty, proud, rich, or strong.  A knight worthy of a princess of good character is one whose trust and faith in God is strong.  A knight who puts other above himself.  A knight who protects and loves the women in his life.
Last of all, I love how the father is the one that picks the knight for his daughter.  The couple in this story do not fall in love until they are engaged.  What a novel idea!  Letting your father choose your spouse and then falling in love after you know who you will marry!  I have a brother who did this and who has been happily married for 2 years now.  I also have a dear friend who just got betrothed or engaged and a happier couple you will not find.  (pictured on the left - you can also read their story here)
Young people today believe that dating and living with someone will show you whether you want to marry someone whereas I believe that if parents are involved they can use the wisdom of their years to discern young people that are good for their children. I have seen this work time and time again.  My husband and I shared our first kiss on our wedding day and four years later, we still have no regrets.

Karen Kingsbury's The Princess and Three Knights is a wonderful book and one I think every parent should have in their child's library.  You can purchase it at your local store or online at Amazon.com.  The only issue I had with this book is that the scripture in it is not King James Version.  This book is so good that I changed the scripture when I read it to my daughter.

You can watch Karen Kingsbury reading this book on the video below.
